This course meets the qualifications for 9 hours of continuing education
 

Learning Objectives

In this 9 unit course clinicians will be able to:

Refer to a consistent and comprehensive base of information regarding the nature and impact of eating disorders.

Articulate the types of eating disorders

Describe current evidenced-based guidelines for intervening with people with eating disorders.

List the pervasiveness of eating disorders

Describe strategies that represent “best practice” in eating disorders prevention and intervention.

Review the evidence on two categories of issues - treatment and outcomes for anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), and eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS) (focusing on binge eating disorder [BED]) - and answer questions in six key areas:


(1) efficacy of treatment,
(2) harms associated with treatment,
(3) factors associated with the efficacy of treatment,
(4) whether efficacy of treatment differs by sex, gender, age, race, ethnicity, or cultural group,
(5) factors associated with outcomes, and
(6) whether outcomes differ by sex, gender, age, race, ethnicity, or cultural group.
