Synchronicity examines the evidence for the human influence on the meaningfulness of events, and the way the modern computational model of the mind predicts how we create meaning. It demonstrates that these events, based on the activity of the mind, are caused by the person who perceives them.

Learning Objectives This course is designed to help you: 1) Identify synchronistic events and the patterns they present. 2) Discuss the psychological and physical causes of synchronistic events. 3) Demonstrate the conscious ability to produce chosen patterns of synchronistic events. 4) Apply an understanding of SE and their causes to your clinical practice. 5) Assess if a client’s reports of synchronistic events are the result of delusions, or are normal reflections of their thought processes. 6) Demonstrate to clients how the thoughts they choose affect the world they experience. 7) Analyze the patterns and meanings of synchronistic events for yourself and your clients. |

Kirby Surprise, Psy.D. received his Doctorate in psychology in 2007 from the Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco, his masters in psychodynamic and transpersonal psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 1988. Dr. Surprise received his license as a psychologist in 2009, and currently works in an advanced outpatient program for the State of California. The inspiration for his current writing comes from his lifelong experiences with synchronistic events and interests in psychology, metaphysics, philosophy, history and science. Surprise is his original family name, and he has received more than a few interested comments on the coincidence of a book on synchronicity written by a psychologist named Dr. Surprise.
